Meeting February 4,2020

Thoughts and questions about the working group's recommendations for linked data

Present: Valerie Buck (Co-Editor), Jane Carpenter, Emily Epstein, Alison Greenlee, Rafael Linares Blasini, Kate Moriarty, Ann Myers, Jessie Sherwood, Brian Stearns

1.  id.loc URIs make the most sense right now

2. There are some reservations about its longevity and sustainability

3. Propose a 6 month pilot project and re-visit in 6 months.

     a. For the pilot, we will check to see if a resource exists in id:loc, add the URI to the citation form if it does and note if it does not on our Wiki (I'm assuming on our table of new citations. Does that seem reasonable? -- JS)

     b. We will not be creating authority records for resources that aren't in id:loc. There is general consensus that SCF does not currently have that bandwidth and is unlikely ever to have it.

4. To dos:

     a. Kate will update the workflow

     b. Val will talk to the Web team about creating a field for the id:loc URI

     c. Jessie will inform the BSC/Francis

In answer to the question in 3a: adding pilot information to the table of new citations sounds great to me. Thanks for the notes!
